“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, weought also to love one another.” 1John 4:10

The Apostle Paul used the picture of an olive tree (representing Israel—cf. Jer. 11:16) in Rom. Ch. 11. In speaking of it, he shared that the tree had natural branches (physical descendants of Abraham), some of which had been broken off because of disbelief. Wild branches (people from the nations), through faith are grafted into the tree. The natural branches that had been broken off could/can be grafted back into their own tree through belief. Both the natural branches as well as the wild branches are grafted into the tree (Israel) through faith in the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua of Nazareth. The picture of the olive tree above represents Paul’s analogy. The children’s worship song “Jesus loves the little children” has a line in it that says “...red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight.” the multiple colors in the olive tree above represent this fact. The green represent the natural branches (physical descendants of Abraham), the other colors represent those from the nations grafted in. |
